Masters of Reality dropped on 21 July 1971 as Sabbath's third studio album, cut at Island Studios in London and produced by Rodger Bain, holding Sweet Leaf, Children Of The Grave, After Forever, Solitude and Into The Void across side one and two. The Birmingham line-up of Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass, Bill Ward on drums and Ozzy Osbourne on vocals had already dropped Black Sabbath February 1970 and Paranoid September 1970 in the eighteen months before it, welding the doom-metal template into shape before anyone had a name for it.
