The Trooper first surfaced as the second single from Piece of Mind in June 1983, its Eddie-as-hussar illustration drawn by Derek Riggs and inspired by Tennyson's Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaclava in 1854. The 2022 refresh recuts the Union Flag colours and detailing while keeping Riggs's original composition intact.
