Aladdin Sane was Bowie's sixth studio album, released in April 1973 as the immediate follow-up to Ziggy Stardust, with a Brian Duffy portrait of Bowie wearing the red-and-blue bolt painted across his face for the cover. The bolt has stood in for the whole Aladdin Sane / Ziggy era ever since, running on sleeves, tour books and merch pulls for decades.
