"Boys Don't Cry" came out as a Cure single in June 1979 on Fiction Records, written by Robert Smith, Michael Dempsey and Lol Tolhurst as the second single following the band's debut Three Imaginary Boys earlier that year. The track also lent its name to The Cure's US compilation in 1980, and the Black & White artwork keys into that early monochrome post-punk identity.
