Aladdin Sane arrived on 13 April 1973 as Bowie's follow-up to Ziggy Stardust, cut through the US touring cycle earlier that year with Mike Garson on piano and Ken Scott producing. Brian Duffy shot the lightning-bolt cover portrait in January 1973 at Duffy Studios in Swiss Cottage, and that Duffy-shot flash has since become one of the most-quoted images in Bowie's catalogue. The Wash Collection Dye Wash finish pulls the print into painterly variance.
