Sabbath came out of Birmingham in 1968 and cut the self-titled debut in 1970 alongside Paranoid, then ran Master of Reality, Vol. 4 and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath through the early 70s, effectively defining the shape of heavy metal. The Demon motif rides on the band's own arched wordmark across sleeves, tour books and battle-jacket patches from that era onward.
