Guns N' Roses formed in Los Angeles in 1985 out of the merger of Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns, with Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler as the classic line-up. The band's scroll-lettering wordmark predates the Appetite for Destruction 1987 sleeve and has since travelled with the group through Use Your Illusion I and II in 1991, Chinese Democracy in 2008 and out to the Not in This Lifetime tour cycle.
