Yellow Submarine landed as an animated feature in July 1968, art-directed by Heinz Edelmann with a Pepperland palette that pushed Beatles graphics into a psychedelic pop shape. The title track had been released two years earlier on Revolver in 1966, giving Edelmann a ready-made vessel for the picture.
