Van Halen formed in Pasadena in 1972 around brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen, breaking through with the January 1978 self-titled debut and building the catalogue that ran through Van Halen II (1979), Women And Children First (1980), and the 1984 record. The yellow wordmark on this cap is a variant of the band's long-running block-typography identity, embroidered on the red front crown.
