The Yellow Submarine film released in July 1968, directed by George Dunning with art direction from German illustrator Heinz Edelmann. Edelmann's psychedelic visual language took the 1966 Revolver track and built an entire animated universe around it, complete with Blue Meanies and a Pepperland that became one of the most-copied design palettes of late-60s pop.
