John Pasche drew the Tongue and Lips mark in 1970 as an undergraduate at the Royal College of Art in London, at Mick Jagger's request, originally paid £50 for the commission. The mark debuted on the Sticky Fingers inner sleeve (Rolling Stones Records, April 1971) and has been the group's calling card ever since. This gradient-pink treatment layers Pasche's classic outline over a colour-shifted background for a warmer summer register.
