John Pasche drew the tongue-and-lips logo in 1970 while at the Royal College of Art, London, for the band's Sticky Fingers 1971 sleeve on their newly launched Rolling Stones Records imprint. The Vintage British treatment overlays the Union Jack into the crimson tongue, tying Jagger, Richards, Watts, Wyman and the London 1962 line-up to the shape that has followed the band from Exile on Main St. 1972 through Some Girls 1978 and every tour since.
