"Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!" landed on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1967, its lyrics lifted almost verbatim from a Victorian circus poster John Lennon had bought at an antiques shop in Sevenoaks. George Martin layered fairground organ, harmonica and calliope tape loops behind the vocal, cutting and re-splicing the reels at random to build the swirling Big-Top backdrop.
