Bertha takes her name from the 1971 song on the Grateful Dead's self-titled live album, the double-LP that closed with a wrap-around skull-and-roses sleeve by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley. The rose-crowned skull motif has been part of the band's visual grammar ever since.
