KISS formed in New York in 1973 and stayed anchored in an unmistakably American arena-rock register through Alive!, Destroyer and Love Gun, Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss driving the greasepaint pantheon. The American Flag Logo treatment fills the block-letter wordmark with the flag print, hanging the New York lineage off the wordmark itself.
