M72 launched in April 2023 as Metallica's two-year world-tour run supporting 72 Seasons, the band's eleventh studio album released the same month on Blackened Recordings, with a no-repeat two-night setlist format across each stadium stop. The James Hetfield-drawn band logo first commissioned for the 1982 first single carries across the tour kit.

Built from 900D polyester outer with a 210D printed polyester lining, the daypack runs a spacious main compartment with zip-fastening front pocket and an internal padded laptop sleeve.
