The Crimson Ghost is the most-recognised piece of horror-punk imagery ever produced, originally a 1946 serial-film villain, adopted by Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only as the Misfits' visual mascot in the late 70s. The Misfits formed in Lodi, New Jersey in 1977 and built one of the foundational horror-punk catalogues across Walk Among Us, Earth A.D. and the broader Plan 9 Records output. The Crimson Ghost has since been sampled by Metallica, Pennywise and dozens of other bands.
