The Dark Side of the Moon landed on Harvest and Capitol on 1 March 1973 as the band's eighth studio album. Hipgnosis and George Hardie built the sleeve around a single prism refracting white light into a rainbow, and the image has become as recognisable as the record itself. This treatment isolates the prism and pushes the rainbow out further across the chest.
