The Wall arrived in November 1979 as Pink Floyd's eleventh studio album on Harvest and Columbia, Roger Waters' semi-autobiographical rock opera produced with Bob Ezrin and David Gilmour. Gerald Scarfe's marching-hammer and cracked-brick artwork gave the whole project its visual grammar.
