News of the World dropped October 1977, home to We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions, the two-track sequence that opens the record and has been opening every major sporting event ever since. Frank Kelly Freas's cover painting (a giant robot holding the dead bodies of Queen's four members) is one of the most-imitated pieces of rock album art ever produced, originally an Astounding Science Fiction magazine cover from 1953 that Freas re-purposed for the band. The vintage treatment lifts the design out of standard tour-tee territory.
