Magical Mystery Tour dropped November 1967 as the soundtrack to the Beatles-directed TV film of the same name, the most-experimental piece of post-Sgt-Pepper psychedelia they ever attempted. The album gave us Hello Goodbye, I Am the Walrus, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields Forever and The Fool on the Hill, some of the band's most-loved psychedelic-era material. The TV film itself was savaged by British critics on Boxing Day 1967 and has since been re-evaluated as a piece of avant-garde Beatles work.
