Alice In Chains came out of Seattle in the late eighties alongside Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, cutting Facelift (1990) and Dirt (1992) with Jerry Cantrell writing much of the catalogue on guitar. The Lantern graphic sits with the darker, atmosphere-forward corner of the band's visual language, closer to the mood of the self-titled 1995 record than the Facelift-era artwork.
