The mod-target roundel started life as an RAF 1918 aircraft insignia, and by the mid-Sixties the London mod scene had lifted it onto Vespa side-panels, parkas and stage backdrops. The Who formed in Shepherd's Bush, London in 1964 and the target became inseparable from Pete Townshend's stage jumpers by the time My Generation dropped on Brunswick in December 1965. This distressed treatment ages the roundel into a worn-print register.
