Surf Nicaragua began as a 1988 track on Sacred Reich's Metal Blade debut Ignorance and became the title track of the 1988 EP that followed. Written by Phil Rind and Wiley Arnett, the song used surf-cinema shorthand to sit against Reagan-era US intervention in Central America, a political-thrash calling card for the Phoenix, Arizona lineup.
