Dissection formed in Strömstad on the Swedish west coast in 1989 and cut two of the genre's most-cited full-lengths: The Somberlain (No Fashion, December 1993) and Storm of the Light's Bane (Nuclear Blast, November 1995), before the classic-era lineup dissolved. The 2004 return record Reinkaos reunited the band around Jon Nödtveidt on Black Horizon Music. The logo-and-cross mark has anchored the visual identity across all three studio-catalogue eras.
