The Use Your Illusion design references Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II, both released in 1991. The artwork is based on a detail from Raphael's The School of Athens, and it became closely associated with this major era in Guns N' Roses history. The band formed in LA in 1985, and the twin records arrived six years later.
