Peter Saville's pulsar artwork ran on the front of Unknown Pleasures in June 1979, sampled from radio-telescope data of pulsar CP 1919 published in a 1977 astronomy encyclopaedia. This treatment isolates a single wave line, the 'Lone Pulsar' of the title, and prints it large across the back, with a smaller version at the front, distilling the design down to its quietest possible form.

Cut in black soft-style cotton with a regular unisex fit, short sleeves and a ribbed crew neck. The single-line graphic suits the minimalist Manchester post-punk register the band trade in.
