Queen's Classic Crest was designed by Freddie Mercury himself, a trained graphic artist, incorporating the zodiac signs of the band's four members: two lions for John Deacon and Roger Taylor (Leo), a crab for Brian May (Cancer) and two fairies for Freddie (Virgo). It first appeared on their 1973 self-titled debut. The crest also features the band's name and a phoenix above, all framed by the band's signature ornate flourish.
