Arturo Vega drew the seal-style crest for the Sire Records debut in 1976, and the perched eagle inside the ring became the single most recognisable graphic in punk visual language across the Sire catalogue that stretched from Rocket to Russia (1977) all the way to the mid-nineties. Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee held the classic-era lineup at Sire.
