Sound Affects dropped in November 1980, taking Paul Weller, Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler into more experimental, post-punk-influenced territory while keeping the Weller-led songwriting hooks intact. The record hit number two on the UK Albums Chart and gave us Start!, That's Entertainment and Pretty Green. The cover artwork is a homage to the BBC Sound Effects records of the era, and became one of the band's most-recognised pieces of album art.
