Opiate is Tool's first release, a six-track EP that landed on Zoo Entertainment in March 1992 and set the LA quartet's sludge-prog template: Maynard's chant-scream vocal, Adam Jones' unhinged guitar, Danny Carey's odd-time drumming, Paul D'Amour on bass before Justin Chancellor stepped in. Opiate the song is still a live-set closer.
