Joe Ephgrave painted the drum face for the 1967 sleeve at Chelsea Manor Studios, working from a Peter Blake brief that borrowed heavily from Victorian showman graphics. The circus-scroll lettering has since become the album's most portable emblem, dropped onto everything from anniversary reissues to the animated inserts in the Sgt. Pepper universe. The mid-blue tone sits between the sky variants and the deep navy version, holding a bit more mid-day light.
