Welcome to ATC Music Merch, your ultimate destination for officially licensed Salford
Lads Club merchandise!
Our Salford Lads Club range covers t-shirts, hoodies, jumpers and accessories carrying
one of the most recognisable frontages in British music. Every item is officially
licensed and printed on soft, hard-wearing cotton in a full range of sizes.
Salford Lads Club was built and designed by the Salford architect Henry Lord and opened
in August 1903, with a ceremonial opening by Robert Baden-Powell on 31 January 1904. It
was founded as a recreational club for boys with the stated aim to brighten young lives
and make good citizens, and it has kept working to that purpose ever since. In 1996 it
became the Salford Lads and Girls Club, open to young people of any gender.
Its place in music history was fixed in the winter of 1985. The Smiths arrived for a
photo session for their third album, The Queen Is Dead, at a location Morrissey had
suggested; he was a long-standing admirer of the Salford-born playwright Shelagh
Delaney. The photograph Stephen Wright took that afternoon, four figures standing
outside the club with the sign above them, ended up on the album's inner sleeve and
turned a red-brick door in Salford into a site that fans still travel from across the
world to stand in front of.
Our designs work from that frontage and that lettering, reproduced with the detail
intact so the print holds up rather than turning muddy after a few washes.
On materials: the t-shirts use soft breathable cotton with durable prints, and the
hoodies and jumpers are weighted for year-round wear. Sizes run right across the range.
The accessories line adds caps, bags, patches and wristbands for anyone who wants the
reference without wearing it across their chest.
ATC Music Merch is committed to stocking authentic, officially licensed merchandise
only. Every item is produced under licence, so rights holders are paid properly and
what arrives is the genuine article.
